Affordable data bundles for learning to code on your phone?

Hey everyone, I want to start learning some tech skills using my phone since I don't have a laptop yet. But my biggest worry is data costs. Watching YouTube tutorials and using online platforms can eat up bundles quickly. I'm on Safaricom right now but open to trying other networks if they have better deals for learning. What do you guys use for data bundles? Do you have a specific plan you go for, like the daily bundles or the weekly ones? Also, does anyone use those free learning platforms that work offline or have low data usage? I heard SoloLearn app doesn't use much data, but I'm not sure. Any tips would be helpful, especially for a complete beginner like me.

Safaricom daily bundles work well too if you're just starting small - like the 50 bob for 500MB, perfect for a quick SoloLearn session. Also check out the M-Pesa free data offers, sometimes they give you a bonus if you send a little cash. And yeah, downloading tutorials on WiFi is a lifesaver, even at a local cafe or library if you can find one.

Hey, great question! For Safaricom, I usually go for the weekly bundles - like the 1GB for around 150 bob. It lasts me a week if I'm just doing light browsing and using apps like SoloLearn or even YouTube Go (which uses way less data than regular YouTube). Also, you can download tutorials on YouTube when you have WiFi at a hotspot or somewhere free, then watch them offline later. SoloLearn is a good shout, it's pretty light. Start with that and see how it goes!

SoloLearn is definitely light, I use it on my phone here in Kitui. One trick that saved me is downloading the lessons while on WiFi at a cyber cafe then reading them offline later.

Yeah, the weekly 1GB for 150 bob is solid - I do the same. Also, if you're on Safaricom, try the "Okoa Data" trick when you're low, they sometimes give bonus MBs. And for offline learning, grab some free tech PDFs from sites like Z-Lib when you're on WiFi - no data needed to read later. SoloLearn is great, start there and take it slow.

Bro, the Tunukiwa deal from Airtel is legit if you have a line or can get a cheap dual-SIM phone. For starting out, I'd say just pick one thing - like learning Kotlin basics on SoloLearn or Python - and do it in small chunks. Even 50 bob daily on Safaricom can get you through a lesson or two if you're disciplined. What area of tech are you thinking of jumping into first? That way folks can point you to the lightest apps for it.

Hey there, great to see you taking the first step. One thing I'd add: Airtel's "Tunukiwa" bundles often give you more data for less, especially the weekly 1GB around 100 bob. Also, what specific tech skill are you hoping to start with? That might help folks point you to lighter apps or resources.
