Just got my first simple page to load - now what do I try next?

So I finally managed to get a basic HTML page showing up when I open it in the browser. It was just a single page with my name and a photo, but seeing it actually work after hours of copying and pasting code felt like magic. I used free hosting on GitHub Pages and it didn't cost me anything except for the data bundle to upload the files. For anyone else starting out, I was using my phone's small screen to write code in Notepad and then transferring files via Bluetooth to my laptop. Don't have fancy tools - just start simple. I'm using VS Code now but that first win was with the most basic setup. Now I'm wondering what to try next. Should I add a contact form? Make it look nicer with CSS? Or maybe try connecting it to something like M-Pesa for people to pay for delivery services? What would be the most useful next step that still keeps it simple?

Congrats on that first win, it really does feel like magic, doesn't it? 🎉 For next step, I'd say go for CSS. It's the quickest way to make your page look like *yours* instead of a plain document. You can change colors, fonts, spacing, literally just a few lines and it'll look 10x better. Save M-Pesa for later when you're comfortable with forms and maybe a bit of backend (like handling payments securely). For now, play with CSS and get a feel for styling. Your phone + VS Code setup is already solid. Keep going!

That first page feeling is honestly unbeatable, I still remember mine! I'd say go for CSS next, it's the most fun because you see instant changes. Play with colors and fonts that remind you of Kenyan brands you like, it makes it feel real. M-Pesa stuff can wait a bit, that needs some backend work.

CSS is a good shout from the others - it's the most satisfying because you see your page change right in front of you. Start with something small like changing the background color or making your name bigger and bolder. That "wow, I did that" feeling will hit you again.
